LG LP0725WSSM vs LP0825WSSM vs LP1025WSSM: capacity and setup

LG’s 2025 LP0825WSSM and LP1025WSSM use a shared single-hose family manual, but their published SACC ratings and area estimates differ. Start with the cooling load you need, then make the window, outlet and maintenance plan fit the appliance.

LG also lists the LP0725WSSM at 7,300 BTU/h SACC, 11,000 BTU/h ASHRAE and up to 300 square feet. It uses a separate exact-model manual but shares the WSSM cooling-only distinction: Cool, Dry and Fan rather than the H-suffix Heat mode. Its window panel spans 20 1/2–39 15/16 inches, and LG lists ThinQ control. The 7,300 tier sits between the LP0626 PG models and the 8,350-SACC LP0825WSSM. See the LP0725WSSM assessment; do not use its 11,000-BTU/h ASHRAE rating as an 8,000-SACC match.

Choose the capacity tier with SACC

LG lists 8,350 BTU/h SACC and an up-to-350-square-foot estimate for the LP0825WSSM. The LP1025WSSM is listed at 10,200 SACC and up to 450 square feet. Their page headings also show 12,000 and 14,000 BTU/h under ASHRAE; do not compare those older-method figures directly with SACC values or add them to the DOE number. A requirement for at least 10,000 SACC separates the two models. If 8,000 SACC is enough, the smaller rating may meet the need without moving up a tier.

Room estimates are not guarantees. Direct afternoon sun, a high ceiling, poor insulation, connected doorways and heat from computers or appliances can raise the load. A small enclosed bedroom and an open living area with the same floor area are not necessarily equivalent. Match the rating to the actual space, then keep enough margin for its exposure and layout.

Both use one exhaust hose and the same manual span

The exact owner manual names LP0825WSSM and LP1025WSSM and lists one flexible vent hose, one diffuser and a two-piece window kit. It specifies most vertical-sliding windows 20½ to 39 15/16 inches wide, or horizontal-sliding windows 20½ to 39 15/16 inches high. Measure the sash where the panel will sit. A measurement outside the listed range is not a confirmed fit, and the correct span alone does not ensure there is a safe hose path between the cabinet and the window.

Keep the vent hose short and straight as the manual instructs. Leave air inlets clear, avoid crushing the hose and close/seal gaps around the panel. These are single-hose models; if balanced two-hose operation is essential, choose a product documented for that layout instead. A high SACC rating does not change the exhaust design.

Check the outlet before moving the cabinet

LG’s manual specifies a grounded 120-volt receptacle and a 15-amp circuit. It warns not to use an extension cord, surge protector or multi-outlet adapter. Verify the outlet and circuit first rather than improvising after installation. The source material reviewed here does not establish the cabinet’s exact dimensions or weight, so confirm those model-specific numbers from current LG documentation if you have a narrow path, a tight alcove or stairs to manage.

Understand the WSSM mode list

LG lists Cool, Dry and Fan for the WSSM models, along with ThinQ control, a remote, multiple fan speeds, a 24-hour timer, Auto Restart and an auto-swing air outlet. A current LP1025WSSM heading includes the words “Cooling & Heating,” but the same exact page presents a 3-in-1 Cool/Dry/Fan set and the manual’s WSSM mode instructions do not describe heat. The separate H-suffix LP1025WHSM is presented as a heat model. For shopping purposes, do not rely on the conflicting WSSM heading to meet an essential heat requirement; pick an exact SKU with clearly documented heat operation.

ThinQ is an extra control path, not a substitute for a working remote or the manual’s setup. The manual notes model-specific availability and a 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi requirement. Confirm your network and decide whether remote scheduling matters before paying for connected features. For a simpler low-capacity LG alternative, compare the exact LP0626PGF; its separate product page and manual document a different cooling tier and a standard uncut 27–52-inch slider panel. That manual permits trimming panel A for openings below 27 inches without giving a new minimum; do not confuse it with the WSSM window range.

Plan for water and filter access

LG’s page describes a self-evaporative system, but the WSSM manual still includes a water-collection tank and drain procedure. A full tank shows FL and turns the unit off until emptied. If you run Dry mode in high humidity, the manual allows a garden hose to connect to the continuous drain port; this instruction is explicitly for Dry mode. Leave enough access to route the hose to a floor drain or bucket if needed.

Clean the filters every two weeks, more often if the room is dusty. Heavily soiled filters can be washed with warm water and mild detergent, then dried in shade before reinstalling. Do not confuse automatic evaporation with a promise that no draining will ever be required. Before storage or a move, follow the manual’s drain directions and keep the remote batteries and product dry.
