A useful fit for

A larger cooling-tier candidate when a documented 10,200-BTU/h SACC rating is useful, the actual room load suits the estimate and the single-hose/manual window plan fits.

The main tradeoff

The exact WSSM manual does not document heat despite a conflicting LP1025WSSM page heading. It remains single-hose, and its exact cabinet dimensions, weight, CEER and numeric sound level are unverified.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the 10,200-SACC LP1025WSSM meet a 10,000-BTU/h DOE minimum but fail a 12,000 minimum?

LG lists 10,200 BTU/h SACC. That clears 10,000 but not 12,000; the 14,000 ASHRAE figure is a different rating.

Does the LP1025WSSM include the heat mode suggested by one page heading?

The exact WSSM owner manual names this model but gives Cool, Dry and Fan modes only; the separate H-suffix model is the heat configuration.

Does the window kit accept a 39.9-inch opening and reject a 40-inch opening?

The exact WSSM manual sets the maximum at 39 15/16 inches, so 39.9 is inside that span and 40 inches is beyond it.

The LP1025WSSM is LG’s higher-capacity 2025 WSSM portable AC: 10,200 BTU/h SACC, 14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE, and an “up to 450 sq. ft.” manufacturer estimate. Its main practical distinction from the LP0825WSSM is that capacity step, not a different exhaust layout or a documented heat mode.

Decide whether the 10,200-SACC tier is useful

For portable air conditioners, SACC is the more useful number to compare across current models. The 14,000-BTU ASHRAE figure is a separate older rating method and should not be read as 14,000 BTU/h of DOE capacity. LG lists the LP1025WSSM at 10,200 SACC and estimates coverage up to 450 square feet; those figures describe the product’s rating and the manufacturer’s stated area, not a measured result in your room.

The LP0825WSSM uses the same documented single-hose WSSM family setup but is rated at 8,350 SACC with an up-to-350-square-foot estimate. The 1,850-BTU/h SACC difference is meaningful when the real load is higher; it is not a reason to oversize by habit. Sun exposure, ceiling height, open-plan connections and poor insulation all affect how demanding a room is. If your requirement is a hard 10,000-SACC minimum, the LP0825 falls short while this model meets it. If 8,000 is enough, the smaller unit may already satisfy the capacity need.

A confusing page title does not add a heat mode

One current LP1025WSSM page heading includes “Cooling & Heating,” which can mislead a shopper. The same exact model page also presents the unit as a 3-in-1 model with Cool, Dry and Fan modes. The LG owner manual lists LP0825WSSM and LP1025WSSM by name and its mode instructions cover only Cool, Dry and Fan. It documents heat separately on H-suffix products. For this assessment, the exact WSSM models are treated as cooling-only; do not buy this unit expecting heating based on the conflicting header. If heat is essential, compare an explicit heat model such as LG’s separate LP1025WHSM or the reviewed Midea MAP14HS1TBL, after checking that model’s own operating plan.

The kit is a fit test, not just a parts list

LG’s exact product page lists an included venting kit and its manual shows a single flexible exhaust hose, diffuser and window-panel set. The documented kit fits most vertical-sliding windows 20½ to 39 15/16 inches wide, or horizontal-sliding windows in the same span measured in height. Confirm the clear sash opening before ordering. Also check the route from the cabinet to the panel: a panel that fits the sash does not help if the hose must stretch, kink or cross a walkway.

The manual says to keep the hose as short and straight as practical, not to replace or lengthen it with a hose not designed for the model, and to seal gaps around the installed panel. This is a one-hose design, so it should not be presented as the balanced intake/exhaust arrangement of a dual-hose model. A buyer who requires dual-hose operation should rule it out even though its cooling rating is relatively high.

LG’s instructions specify a grounded 120-volt receptacle rated for a 15-amp circuit. They prohibit extension cords, surge protectors and multi-outlet adapters. Make the outlet check before placing the cabinet, then reserve space to remove the filters and reach the lower drain.

Controls and routine care

LG lists ThinQ, phone scheduling and energy-use monitoring, Alexa/Google voice control, a remote, multiple fan speeds, a 24-hour timer, Auto Restart and an auto-swing outlet. The manual explains that ThinQ is available on models carrying the feature and that network setup depends on the home’s wireless connection; it also notes a 2.4-GHz network requirement. The page’s app claims are useful if you want to adjust a schedule remotely, but they do not establish cooling performance or reliable connectivity in every home.

The auto-evaporation system can reduce routine draining, but the owner instructions describe a full-tank FL shutoff and steps for emptying the internal reservoir. A garden hose can provide continuous drainage in Dry mode only. The filters should be cleaned every two weeks and may be washed with mild detergent if heavily soiled; dry them in the shade before putting them back. The manual’s maintenance steps still matter even if normal cooling often recycles condensate.

Where it fits—and where the evidence stops

This model fits a larger cooling need when its 10,200 SACC rating, single-hose layout and measured window span match the room. It is a poor choice if you need heat, dual-hose exhaust, a known tight cabinet clearance, a verified minimum CEER or a confirmed noise ceiling. LG’s qualitative “quiet” language does not supply a numerical dBA value. The sources reviewed do not confirm cabinet dimensions, product weight or an exact EnergyGuide CEER, so those figures remain unknown rather than guessed from a similar model.

For a lower cooling threshold, see the LP0825WSSM and the more compact 2026 LP0626PGF or LP0626PGSF. The compact PG models use their own manual family and an uncut 27–52-inch slider span; the manual permits trimming panel A below 27 inches without stating a post-cut minimum; do not transfer that panel span to this WSSM family. Compare setup steps in the LG WSSM capacity and setup guide before deciding.
