Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does a 10,000-BTU/h DOE minimum admit this model while a 12,000 minimum rejects it?
LP1023BSSM is listed at 10,000 SACC. It meets 10,000 but not 12,000; the 13,500 ASHRAE figure uses a different method.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the 18–50-inch panel kit cover a 52-inch opening?
No. The LP1023BSSM manual's documented maximum is 50 inches, so a 52-inch span is outside its stated range.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a required connected-control feature be supported?
LG lists ThinQ/Wi-Fi for the exact LP1023BSSM. This is the maker's feature claim, not a guarantee about a household network.
Explore this need in the finder →Does this exact unit satisfy a hard requirement for DUAL Inverter?
The inspected LP1023BSSM sources do not name a DUAL Inverter compressor, so that requirement is not confirmed and cannot be satisfied by inference.
Explore this need in the finder →The black LG LP1023BSSM is a connected, single-hose portable air conditioner rated at 10,000 BTU/h SACC and 13,500 BTU/h ASHRAE. Its strongest practical distinction in LG’s listed 10,000-SACC group is the wider low end of its documented slider kit: the model-named manual gives 18–50 inches rather than the 23–60-inch range in the shared manual for the white LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM.
Start with 10,000 SACC, not the 13,500 headline
LG’s exact product page and specification sheet identify 10,000 BTU/h under the U.S. DOE rating and 13,500 under ASHRAE. Those are different methods, not two capacities that should be added together or swapped when comparing a hard capacity minimum. It will qualify for a 10,000-SACC requirement, not a 12,000-SACC one. LG estimates up to 450 square feet, but that is not a test in your room; strong sun, high ceilings, poor insulation, open doorways and heat from people or equipment change the load.
The product page identifies this as a black LP1023BSSM, lists Cool, Dry and Fan, and describes an auto-swing outlet, ThinQ/Wi-Fi, remote and Auto Restart. Do not mistake connected control or a similar LG shell for a different capacity. The same 10,000-SACC tier includes the white LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM, which are explicitly called DUAL Inverter and use the 23–60-inch kit. This model’s exact page does not call it DUAL Inverter, so the distinction is not inferred from appearance or a similar family name.
The 18-inch window opening is a real reason to consider it
For a narrow opening, the LP1023BSSM’s 2025 owner manual gives a useful edge: its included panel kit fits most vertical sliders from 18 to 50 inches wide, or horizontal sliders from 18 to 50 inches high. That 18-inch lower end is three inches shorter than the standard 23-inch lower endpoint in the later DUAL Inverter family manual. If your clear opening is 18–22 inches, verify the manual’s panel arrangement and the exact sash shape before purchase; this is a small panel, not proof every window frame is compatible.
The cabinet is listed at 17½ inches wide, 28⅓ inches high and 15 inches deep, with a net weight of 69.5 pounds. That makes a basic footprint check possible, but it is still substantial to move. Leave access behind the unit for the exhaust connection, avoid a crushed hose and keep the airflow openings clear. LG’s specification gives a hose length of 14–59 inches; the manual warns against extending or replacing the supplied hose with an unspecified one. The installation plan needs both a window that fits and an unstrained route from cabinet to panel.
Electrical and water handling have limits
The exact sheet specifies 115 volts, 1,230 watts and 11.1 amps, with a 115-volt/15-amp plug. The model-named manual calls for a properly grounded receptacle on a dedicated 15-amp circuit and warns against extension cords and adapters. Do not treat the nominal current figure as permission to share an overloaded circuit; check the actual outlet and follow LG’s safety directions.
LG describes auto evaporation, but the manual still covers the internal collection tank and its full-tank shutdown. A full reservoir can stop operation until it is emptied. A separate 5/8-inch-inside-diameter garden hose can be used for continuous drainage in Dry/dehumidifying mode only. It is not a continuous cooling drain or an integrated pump. If you cannot access the lower drain, need a hose route while cooling or require a lift pump, do not assume the self-evaporation feature answers that need.
The manual asks for filter cleaning every two weeks and explains that the filter may be washed with mild detergent when heavily soiled; let it dry in the shade. LG lists a one-year parts-and-labor warranty on the exact support record. The exact specification publishes 55/53 dBA for High/Low and CEER 7.8, but those are manufacturer sheet figures, not listening or energy tests. I have not found an exact EnergyGuide to verify a label CEER, so the 7.8 value should not be used as a confirmed label threshold here.
Choose it for its setup, not a presumed winner badge
Choose the LP1023BSSM if you need the 10,000-SACC class, appreciate ThinQ control and have an opening in the manual’s 18–50-inch span. It is a poor fit if heat, dual-hose operation, a continuous drain while cooling or a documented inverter compressor is essential. The current LG catalogue does not let this research infer performance from another suffix. If an app-connected DUAL Inverter is a requirement and your opening supports 23–60 inches, compare the LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM. They also remain single-hose cooling units, not heaters.
For a narrower rating need, a smaller model may be easier to handle and may match a lower heat load; use DOE SACC consistently rather than selecting by an ASHRAE label or an area slogan. If heating is essential, compare a distinct documented heat configuration and its drain requirements instead. See the LG 10,000-SACC family setup comparison for the exact window, control, compressor and evidence differences.
