LG LP1023BSSM vs LP1022FVSM vs LP1419IVSM: fit and setup

LG lists three current-reference single-hose models in its 10,000-BTU/h SACC tier: black LP1023BSSM and white DUAL Inverter LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM. The most decisive documented difference is not the 14,000-BTU ASHRAE headline shared by two models; it is how their manuals describe the window-kit span, water handling and how much physical detail LG publishes.

Compare on DOE SACC first

LG’s exact product titles list LP1023BSSM at 10,000 SACC / 13,500 ASHRAE, and LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM at 10,000 SACC / 14,000 ASHRAE. All three meet a 10,000-SACC floor and none meets 12,000. The manufacturer estimates up to 450 square feet for each, but a room-size label cannot account for the sun, open doorways, air leakage, ceiling height or equipment in a real space. Use the same rating method across candidate units rather than comparing the ASHRAE headline with another model’s SACC.

The pages explicitly call LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM DUAL Inverter. LP1023BSSM’s exact page and sheet do not identify it as DUAL Inverter, so its inverter type remains unconfirmed in this comparison rather than being declared the opposite. All three are single-hose cooling models; none offers a documented Heat mode in the exact materials reviewed. ThinQ or an inverter label does not change that.

The slider range may settle the choice

  • LP1023BSSM: its model-named manual says 18–50 inches for vertical-slider width or horizontal-slider height. That is the only one of the group whose listed lower endpoint is 18 inches.
  • LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM: their shared 2025 owner-manual cover names both exact codes and gives the standard panel span as 23–60 inches. It also permits trimming for shorter openings without defining a new minimum; do not infer a universal narrow-window size.

Measure the actual clear track opening, not the full frame. For a narrow sash in the 18–22-inch band, LP1023BSSM is the clearer documented range. For a span above 50 and up to 60 inches, the shared 2025 manual gives the other two models a standard range the LP1023 manual does not claim. A slider that fits does not guarantee enough floor area for a safe hose bend: the unit must vent outdoors with its supplied single exhaust path, and a kinked or improvised extension is not a good shortcut.

Water handling is similar, but not interchangeable

The LP1023BSSM manual describes a full collection tank and a separate continuous-drain port for a 5/8-inch-ID garden hose in Dry mode only. That is not a continuous cooling drain, and it is not a pump. LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM use a shared manual with bottom collection-tank emptying instructions; the inspected manual does not show continuous drainage. All three promote or allow self-evaporation during operation, but each still needs access to its reservoir and lower drain. Someone who cannot empty a tank should require an exact model and operating-mode drain path rather than assuming “auto evaporation” means no water can stop the unit.

LG’s documents specify a dedicated, grounded 15-amp supply, and warn against extension cords and multi-outlet devices. Plan for outlet access, filter removal and drain access before buying. The manuals call for filter cleaning every two weeks. These are modest recurring tasks, but they matter if the proposed location puts the appliance behind furniture or at the top of stairs.

Published physical data are uneven

LP1023BSSM’s exact spec sheet gives a 17½ × 28⅓ × 15-inch cabinet and 69.5-pound weight. LP1419IVSM’s current product page gives 19.41 × 30.43 × 18.11 inches and 70.99 pounds. The LP1022FVSM sheet also lists 71 pounds, but its depth field literally reads “118 1/9 inches.” That value is not silently corrected from a retailer or from the neighboring LP1419; keep the LP1022 cabinet depth unknown if a few inches decide the fit. A known width and height are not a substitute for checking outlet, hose and filter clearance.

Smart controls, labels and alternatives

All three exact model pages list connected ThinQ/Wi-Fi functions, as well as local panel or remote operation. LP1022FVSM and LP1419IVSM are explicitly DUAL Inverter; LP1023BSSM’s exact sources do not use that wording. LP1023’s 2023 sheet lists CEER 7.8 and LP1022’s 2024 sheet lists 7.9, but these values are not treated as verified EnergyGuide CEERs. LP1419’s current page includes an erroneous “14,000 SACC” feature bullet even though its product heading and performance fields say 10,000 SACC / 14,000 ASHRAE; the current page also has 450-square-foot headline fields and a 500-square-foot metadata description. The conservative, repeated title/spec fields are used here. None of those inconsistencies supports an energy or cooling performance ranking.

Start with the LP1023BSSM review if a lower documented window endpoint matters; read the LP1022FVSM review if the explicit inverter label and ThinQ are important and its depth is not critical; inspect the LP1419IVSM review if exact cabinet dimensions are useful. If heat, dual-hose ventilation or a verified EnergyGuide minimum is essential, compare models whose exact evidence supports that separate need instead of stretching one of these cooling-only configurations to fit.
