A useful fit for

A cooling-only single-hose option for a room whose heat load suits 8,000 BTU/h SACC and LG’s 350-sq-ft estimate, when the window is a compatible slider with a 26 9/16–48 7/16-inch clear span and a gravity or manual drain routine is acceptable.

The main tradeoff

The wider 8,000-SACC tier and longer window-kit range distinguish it from the smaller LP0525WFR and LP0625WFR, but this cabinet is heavier/deeper and the kit starts at a wider opening. It remains single-hose, has no heat, and has no documented app or lift-pump plan; exact EnergyGuide CEER is unknown.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do you need at least 8,000 BTU/h DOE/SACC?

The exact LP0825WFR page gives 8,000 BTU/h SACC. It meets an 8,000 minimum, but not a 10,000-SACC minimum; the separate 11,000 ASHRAE number is not substituted.

Does a 26.6-inch slider opening clear the exact manual minimum?

The cover-named LP0825WFR manual sets its minimum at 26 9/16 inches and its maximum at 48 7/16 inches. The finder accepts tenths of an inch, so 26.6 is a supported value above the exact lower endpoint; 26.5 is below it. Measure the clear slider track, and do not treat this panel range as proof of casement-window fit.

Explore this need in the finder →
Can you route a gravity drain, or do you need a built-in lift pump?

The exact manual documents manual tank emptying and an upper-port hose over a drain/bucket for continuous cooling; it does not document an integrated pump. A gravity-drain need can fit, while a pump-essential plan cannot.

Must this unit have app control or heat?

The exact LG-authored spec sheet says Wi-Fi Connection: No, and the exact manual lists Cool, Dry and Fan modes only. App control and heat are not supported for this exact configuration.

The LG LP0825WFR sits a step above the small-room portable units in this catalog: LG lists 8,000 BTU/h under the DOE/SACC method and estimates coverage up to 350 square feet. Its separate 11,000-BTU/h ASHRAE figure comes from a different test method and should not be treated as 11,000 SACC. The area number is LG’s estimate, not a promise that this cabinet will cool every 350-square-foot room; ceiling height, direct sun, insulation, air leakage and internal heat all matter.

Use the SACC tier before judging the room label

This configuration is worth considering when a single room has a heat load that suits an 8,000-SACC machine and you want a portable unit with a remote, timer and washable filter. In the finder, an 8,000-BTU minimum can include the LP0825WFR; a 10,000-SACC requirement should remove it. Do not use its larger ASHRAE headline to clear that higher DOE threshold. LG’s 350-square-foot estimate gives a useful scale, but it should not substitute for thinking about a top-floor room, an open-plan connection or appliances and computers that add heat.

The exact LG documentation lists Cool, Dry and Fan modes, not heat. Dry removes moisture rather than providing a second cooling system, and Fan circulates air without running the compressor. If heating is essential, consider an explicitly documented heat-pump model instead. The LP0825WFR is also a single-hose unit. Its included flexible hose carries warm condenser air outdoors; it does not have the separate intake/exhaust arrangement of a dual-hose design. In a leaky or very hot space, replacement air can enter through other gaps, so hose choice and window sealing remain part of the setup rather than a minor accessory detail.

Its window range is not the same as the smaller WFR models

Measure the opening before deciding that this model is “portable enough.” LG’s LP0825WFR manual lists a slider kit span of 26 9/16 to 48 7/16 inches. For a vertical slider, that is the clear width; for a horizontal slider, it is the clear height. A narrow sash below the 26 9/16-inch minimum is not a confirmed fit, even if the room itself is small. The manual says to assemble the included panel sections, seal gaps and keep the supplied hose short and straight. It also cautions against substituting or extending that hose with one not designed for the unit.

This opening range differs materially from the LP0525WFR and LP0625WFR, whose exact shared manual spans 20 1/2 to 39 15/16 inches. The LP0825WFR’s kit starts wider and reaches farther at the top end, so it is not automatically the better choice for a small window simply because it has more capacity. Its own listed cabinet is 11 2/9 inches wide, 27 1/2 inches high and 13 1/5 inches deep; the LG-authored specification sheet lists 51.7 pounds. That narrow body width is convenient for floor planning, but the cabinet is taller, deeper and heavier than the two smaller WFR units. Casters help with a level-floor move; they do not make carrying it between floors easy.

Power and everyday controls

The product specification sheet lists 115 volts, 1,050 watts and 9.5 amps for cooling. The exact manual specifies a standard grounded 120-volt, 15-amp receptacle and warns against extension cords, surge protectors and multi-outlet adapters. Follow the appliance’s grounding and plug directions rather than treating the published input figures as permission to overload a household circuit.

The local panel and remote provide temperature adjustment, two fan settings and a 24-hour delay-on/delay-off timer. In Cool and Dry modes the manual gives a 60–86°F setpoint range. A filter reminder is provided; LG recommends cleaning the filters every two weeks, more often when the room is dusty. The filter can be vacuumed or washed gently and must dry in the shade before it goes back. The exact LG specification says Wi-Fi connection: No, and the product page and manual describe the panel and remote rather than app control. If app access is a must-have, choose a configuration that explicitly documents it instead of assuming the WFR model provides connected control.

Plan where the water will go

When the internal collection tank fills, the manual says the display shows FL and the unit stops. You can unplug it, move it to a suitable drain and empty the bottom tank. The manual also describes an upper drain port for high humidity or continuous cooling: connect a drain hose and route its open end to a drain or bucket. That is a gravity route, not evidence of an integrated lift pump. In the finder, gravity drainage can be selected if you can route the hose; choosing a pump-essential condition should exclude this configuration. The difference matters if the window is much higher than the drain or if emptying a tank would be difficult.

The manual gives an operating range of 70–95°F and 45–78% relative humidity. These are document limits, not a measured promise at every boundary.

Where this model fits against its alternatives

For a smaller room, compare the LP0525WFR and LP0625WFR: their 5,100- and 6,000-SACC ratings come with lower manufacturer area estimates and lighter, shallower cabinets. Their shared manual, however, has a shorter slider range and documents manual collection-tank drainage rather than the LP0825WFR’s upper-port continuous-cooling gravity option. If connected control matters, compare the exact LP0825WSSM assessment; the WFR spec does not document Wi-Fi. Choose the LP0825WFR only when its 8,000-SACC tier, larger-window fit and accepted drain routine suit your room. A bigger rating cannot solve a mismatched window, a required heater or a need for a pump.
