LG LP0623WSR vs LP0723WSR vs LP0823GSSM: 6,000–8,000 SACC and Wi-Fi

The LG LP0623WSR, LP0723WSR and LP0823GSSM look related, but the useful decision is not a model-number guess: choose the exact SACC tier your room needs, then check whether connected control matters. The first two are 6,000- and 7,000-BTU/h SACC cooling models; the LP0823GSSM is 8,000 SACC and adds explicitly documented ThinQ Wi-Fi. All three stay within the same basic one-hose, 25–47-inch sliding-window setup.

Three ratings, three different thresholds

The manufacturer materials give separate SACC and ASHRAE numbers: LP0623WSR is 6,000 / 9,700 BTU/h; LP0723WSR is 7,000 / 10,500; LP0823GSSM is 8,000 / 12,000. Use the first number when comparing the SACC threshold in this guide. An 8,000-BTU/h ASHRAE number, or the higher ASHRAE rating of another model, is not a replacement for the same SACC minimum.

LG’s estimated room areas rise from 250 to 300 to 350 square feet. Treat those as planning estimates, not hard promises. Sun, ceiling height, open doorways, air leakage and heat from equipment all change the work a portable AC must do. A cooler rating is not a reason to skip sizing around the actual room or to assume that an advertised maximum area will feel comfortable in every home.

The installation span is shared; the cabinet is not a window insert

The model-named LP0623/LP0723/LP0823 family manual specifies the included panel kit for vertical sliders 25–47 inches wide or horizontal sliders 25–47 inches high. At 25 inches, the vent panel is used alone; the extension panel is added for longer openings. Measure the clear opening where the panel actually sits. A window outside this span is not documented as a fit. These are single-hose units, so the cabinet needs to sit near the window and the flexible hose should remain short and straight rather than stretched across the room.

The cabinet dimensions are the same listed 17 1/8 by 27 3/4 by 13 inches across the three sheets, but weight rises from 56.3 pounds (LP0623WSR) and 56.8 pounds (LP0723WSR) to 59.2 pounds (LP0823GSSM). Check your carrying route and floor placement as well as the front opening. Casters make level repositioning easier; they do not solve stairs or tight turns.

When the smart model is worth the difference

LG’s exact LP0823GSSM page and specification sheet list ThinQ Wi-Fi and voice control; its model-named manual says the network uses 2.4 GHz. That gives it a meaningful choice advantage if phone access is a must, but it is not a performance test or guarantee that a distant router will connect. The exact LP0623WSR and LP0723WSR pages do not confirm app control, so do not transfer the GSSM feature from a similar family name to those two codes.

If 6,000 SACC meets the real need and app control does not, the LP0623WSR is the lighter tier. If a 7,000-SACC threshold is enough, the LP0723WSR adds some rated capacity without a documented app feature. At an 8,000-SACC minimum with connected control, the LP0823GSSM is the documented fit. None of the three is listed with a heat mode. A heat requirement should send you to a separately documented heater model, not a suffix assumption.

Water and efficiency details need a second look

All three manuals describe self-evaporation during cooling, yet the exact family manual says a full internal tank stops operation with an FL warning. Each also documents a 5/8-inch-ID garden hose to a drain or bucket only in Dry mode. That creates one real water plan—single-hose cooling, or Dry-mode dehumidifying with a downhill gravity hose—not a cooling-mode pump or permanent heat drain. None of these three model records confirms an integrated lift pump.

The specification sheets list CEER values under DOE waivers, not the exact EnergyGuide CEER used by a label-based shopping minimum. The LP0823GSSM materials also conflict on warranty: the current support record lists one year of labor and parts, while the 2025 manual says two years for internal/functional parts and labor. Leave those strict filters unresolved until LG confirms the terms for the exact unit. Manufacturer sound figures are specification claims, not independent measurements.

Read the individual reviews before relying on any single number: LP0623WSR details, LP0723WSR details, and LP0823GSSM details. The exact model code—not the family resemblance—determines the rating, controls and support record.
