Portable AC comparisons
Hisense AP0722CW1W vs AP0822CW1W: capacity, weight and setup
The AP0722CW1W and AP0822CW1W are earlier Hisense Wi-Fi portable air conditioners from the same single-hose product family. Their core setup is alike: one hose to the window, a 18–50-inch slider panel range, Cool/Fan/Dehumidify modes, ConnectLife control and no heating. The choice is mainly about the amount of cooling you need, the cabinet’s weight and whether the exact panel and drain routine work in your room.
Compare the cooling tier, not the title
The AP0722 is rated 7,000 BTU/h DOE/SACC and lists Hisense’s room estimate as up to 300 square feet. The AP0822 is 8,000 BTU/h SACC and up to 350 square feet. The older product-page titles say 250 and 300 square feet respectively, while the model-specific specification sheets and page descriptions support 300 and 350. I use those detailed values but treat either as an estimate, not a room guarantee. If you need a hard 8,000-SACC minimum, only the AP0822 qualifies; the AP0722 is the lighter choice when 7,000 SACC is enough.
These models are cooling-only. Fan mode circulates air, and Dehumidify removes moisture; neither is heat. The page calls the units drain-free in ordinary use, but the linked instructions describe an upper gravity outlet for Dry mode in high humidity and a lower drain for emptying or storage. Neither model has a documented lift pump, and the upper drain is not used in Cool or Fan. Do not interpret “self-evaporating” as “a hose can be routed uphill” or “the tank can never fill.”
Window and cabinet checks
Both manuals describe a standard slider-panel span of 18–50 inches: measure width for a vertical slider and height for a horizontal slider. That is not a casement-window fit claim. Each machine uses one exhaust hose, and the instructions say not to extend, replace or modify it. Keep the hose route short and unpinched, allow 20 inches of free space around the cabinet, and use a grounded three-prong outlet. The manufacturer warns against adapters and extension cords and says two or more people should move and install the unit.
The AP0722 sheet lists a kit-included weight of 58.4 pounds; its metric cabinet dimensions do not agree with the inch row printed beside them. The AP0822 sheet lists 63.9 pounds and 16.93 × 27.36 × 12.80 inches, with metric values that convert to that same size. If carrying weight or an exact cabinet clearance is the deciding constraint, treat the extra weight and AP0722 dimension conflict as real setup tradeoffs, not details to guess away.
App control and efficiency
Both model pages list ConnectLife app control, a remote and support for Alexa/Google integrations. Both also have a washable, removable filter and a two-year parts-and-labor term on their manufacturer sheets. The AP0722 sheet lists CEER 6.9 and the AP0822 7.2, but these specification-sheet values do not establish a household bill or the exact label value used by a label-based comparison. Energy use depends on hours, room heat load, setpoint, outdoor conditions and local rates. Neither model is a reason to skip checking the energy label for the exact unit.
Timer support is uncertain: the AP0722’s newer specification says “No” while an older sheet says “Yes,” and the shared linked manual describes timer operation through the remote. The AP0822’s sheet also says “No,” while the manual illustrates a remote timer. If scheduled start/stop is essential, confirm the exact supplied controller before choosing either.
Quick decision
- Choose the AP0722CW1W if its 7,000-SACC rating meets your room need and its lower listed weight matters.
- Choose the AP0822CW1W if you need 8,000 SACC and accept the heavier 63.9-pound cabinet.
- Reject both if you require heat, a dual-hose air path, an integrated pump, a panel span outside 18–50 inches or a confirmed EnergyGuide CEER threshold.
Both are earlier models; current stock is not implied. Measure the actual opening and hose route, and compare the model code on the appliance with its documentation before purchase.
