Model comparison

Compare seven Frigidaire portable AC configurations

The Frigidaire FHPC082AC1, FHPC102AC1, FHPW122AC1, FHPC142AA1, FHPH142AA1, GHPC142AA1 and GHPH142AA1 answer different cooling and setup questions. Compare their DOE capacities first, then measure the window and decide whether connected control or supplemental heat is worth its particular setup requirements.

Seven distinct configurations, not just different cabinet sizes

The FHPC082AC1 is the small cooling choice: Frigidaire lists 5,500 BTU/h DOE and 8,000 BTU/h ASHRAE, a 12-by-27-by-13.75-inch cabinet and 52-pound product weight. The FHPC102AC1 is a separate 6,500-BTU/h DOE / 10,000-BTU/h ASHRAE unit. Its 16.5-by-28-by-14-inch body and 62-pound listed weight make it wider, deeper and heavier, not merely a relabelled FHPC082. Both are single-hose, cooling-only designs without Wi-Fi in their model-specific specifications.

The FHPW122AC1 moves up to 8,000 BTU/h DOE / 12,000 BTU/h ASHRAE in a 16.5-by-28-by-14-inch, 69-pound body. It sits between the FHPC102 and FHPC142 capacity tiers, but is a separate connected model: the exact sheet lists Wi-Fi, a remote and an ionizer. Its manual-listed standard slider range is distinct from the larger 142 models; do not copy FHPC142 fit data just because the names seem related.

The FHPC142AA1 steps up to 10,000 BTU/h DOE (14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE), a 16.3-by-31.3-by-18.1-inch body and an 81-pound listed weight. It shares the FHPC cooling-only suffix and connected app control, but is a much larger cabinet than the 082/102 models. The exact sheet lists a single exhaust, included window kit, CEER 7.8 and no supplemental heat.

The FHPH142AA1 is one heat-capable configuration: a connected single-hose unit with supplemental heat, rated 10,000 BTU/h DOE / 14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE for cooling. Its cabinet measures 16.3 by 31.3 by 18.1 inches; the exact specification does not list product weight. For a firm lifting limit, unknown is not a pass. The 12,000-BTU heat-pump figure appears without a named heating test basis, and the sources do not establish the outdoor temperature limit for heat-pump operation.

The separate Gallery GHPC142AA1 uses the inverter and connected-feature set while increasing the cooling label to 10,500 BTU/h DOE / 14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE. Its exact EnergyGuide is CEER 12.5 with a $62 standardized annual estimate, not a household bill. Frigidaire lists the 31.3-inch cabinet at 81 pounds, one hose, and no supplemental heat. Compared with FHPC142AA1, it is the 500-BTU DOE step-up with explicitly named inverter compressor and Gallery controls; it still has a single hose and requires a compatible window and drain plan.

The Gallery GHPH142AA1 is a distinct connected inverter heat-pump SKU. Its cooling label is 10,000 BTU/h DOE / 14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE, and its separate 12,000-BTU/h heat-pump figure has no stated test basis. The exact EnergyGuide gives CEER 12.2 and a $61 estimate. It is listed at 82 pounds, with the same 16.3-by-31.3-by-18.1-inch body as GHPC142AA1. Unlike the cooling-only GHPC sibling, its Heat mode requires the included drain hose and documented pump route. Do not treat it as interchangeable with the separate FHPH142AA1 just because both names include “PH.”

Keep the capacity labels comparable

FHPC142 and FHPH142 both carry a 10,000-BTU/h DOE cooling rating, but only the FHPH model sheet lists supplemental heat. The Gallery GHPC142AA1 instead lists 10,500 BTU/h DOE cooling and no heat; its GHPH142AA1 heat-pump sibling is 10,000 BTU/h DOE and requires a separate heat-mode drain route. FHPC142 has app control yet no heat; the FHPH choice brings a distinct heat-pump drain arrangement. Do not choose between them by the 14,000-BTU/h ASHRAE headline alone.

Use the DOE/SACC rating when you set a cooling-capacity minimum. ASHRAE values on these Frigidaire pages are not the same method: FHPC082's 8,000-BTU ASHRAE headline does not make it a 8,000-BTU DOE model, and FHPH142's 14,000-BTU headline does not replace its 10,000-BTU DOE figure. The manufacturer lists a room-size estimate up to 150 square feet for FHPC082 and up to 450 square feet for FHPH142; treat these as planning claims, not guarantees for a sunny, tall, poorly insulated or equipment-heavy room. Check the exact product page for the FHPC102 area claim and size the room from its conditions rather than interpolating between the siblings.

Window span can decide the fit before cooling capacity does

The linked guides for FHPC082, FHPC102 and FHPW122 describe a standard uncut slider range of 26.6–52.5 inches. The FHPC142AA1 and FHPH142AA1 guides instead list 18.5–51 inches. The Gallery GHPC142AA1 and GHPH142AA1 family guide uses a distinct 22.8–42.7-inch standard span. Its guide shows supplied screws even though the exact Gallery pages advertise a premium tool-less kit, so verify the actual package and fastening instructions. A 40-inch opening falls inside all of these documented spans; a 20-inch opening fits the FHPC142AA1/FHPH142AA1 guides but is below the Gallery pair's 22.8-inch minimum and the three smaller-model ranges. Some linked guides allow cutting panels below printed minimums without stating a finished endpoint; do not treat this as an exact fit guarantee. Measure the clear opening and allow room for the single exhaust hose to bend without crushing it. The FHPC142AA1 specification reverses its maximum/minimum hose figures relative to its guide; the GHPC142AA1 sheet also prints an inverted pair. The GHPH142AA1 sheet and guide agree on a 59-inch maximum but differ on minimum reach (10 3/5 versus 15 inches). Keep each exact model's unresolved reach out of hard fit matching.

Heat brings a water route, not just another button

Both the FHPH142AA1 and GHPH142AA1 are documented with supplemental heat, but they are distinct exact models. For GHPH142AA1, the exact sheet lists a 12,000-BTU/h heat-pump figure without a named test basis, and its linked September 2024 family-cover guide requires the included 1/4-inch drain hose in Heat mode. That manual gives a maximum pump destination 16 feet above the outlet and lists the included drain line as 78.7 inches; verify the physical route rather than assuming that line itself spans the full lift. Dry-mode gravity drainage is a separate hose plan. FHPH142AA1 must be assessed from its own exact sheet and guide rather than inheriting GHPH142AA1 instructions. Neither model's general 41–95°F unit operating range establishes an outdoor heat-pump lower boundary.

For FHPC082, FHPC102, FHPW122 and FHPC142, the exact sheets say supplemental heat is absent even though the family guide contains conditional heating instructions for other configurations. A heat-essential household should not choose one of these cooling-only SKUs on the strength of a shared manual. If heating is not essential, FHPC082 trades capacity for a narrower, lighter cabinet; FHPC102 raises cooling while remaining Wi-Fi-free; FHPW122 adds app-connected control and an 8,000-BTU DOE tier in a 28-inch body; FHPC142 offers the 10,000-BTU DOE tier in a larger cabinet. If heat is essential, compare both exact heat-capable records; each drain setup and temperature limit requires its own model-specific check.

Care and remaining checks

The FHPC owner guides describe washable dust filters and a two-week cleaning interval during use. The FHPH specification also lists washable dust filters and the same interval, while its guide distinguishes the optional PureAir filter from the washable dust filters. The FHPC EnergyGuide labels give CEER values of 6.3 for FHPC082 and 6.7 for FHPC102; FHPH142AA1's model-specific EnergyGuide gives 7.8 and estimates $119 per year, while the two newer Gallery EnergyGuides give CEER 12.5/$62 for GHPC142AA1 and 12.2/$61 for GHPH142AA1. Annual amounts are standardized label estimates, not household bills. These label values can screen a requirement but do not predict a household bill or independent test result.

The FHPW122 page-linked guide specifies weekly filter cleaning during operation, unlike the two-week intervals recorded for the smaller FHPC models and FHPH142 guide. Its exact EnergyGuide reports CEER 7.2 and a $108 annual estimate; the label estimate is not a household bill. The same EnergyGuide does not make this model's 8,000-BTU DOE capacity interchangeable with the 10,000-BTU FHPC142 or FHPH142 tier.

Before ordering, confirm the complete model suffix, outlet and window dimensions, hose route, drainage destination and the current seller's included parts. Frigidaire's initially archived category view said “Showing 6 of 7” with a Load more control; the current online category reports seven products, but the expanded archived listing and historical inventory have not been fully captured. Read each model review for its source limits; no variant's feature, photo or accessory list should be transferred by appearance alone.
