Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Which small-room capacity tier do you actually need?
The BPP06WTB is 6,000 BTU/h SACC, with an 10,000-BTU/h ASHRAE figure on the exact product record. Use SACC for comparisons; the manual gives a 250-sq-ft class estimate, not a performance guarantee.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the included standard slider span your measured opening?
The BPP family manual lists a standard 27.5–47.2-in opening range in the stated vertical/horizontal window setups. It allows shortening the slider below that range but gives no minimum after cutting, so the finder only confirms openings within the printed range.
Explore this need in the finder →Can humid-season condensate drain downhill if the tank fills?
The manual describes automatic evaporation but warns the reservoir may fill in high humidity. Its supplied hose can route gravity drainage to a lower drain or tray; no lift pump is documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Must the machine also provide heating?
No. The family manual limits Heat to BPP08HWTB and BPP10HWTB; the BPP05WTB/BPP06WTB codes are cooling, dehumidify and fan only.
Explore this need in the finder →The BLACK+DECKER BPP06WTB is a 6,000-BTU/h SACC portable air conditioner. Its separate 10,000-BTU ASHRAE headline comes from a different test method; it is not another SACC rating. The exact manual assigns its 6,000-BTU tier a room-area guide of up to 250 square feet. That is useful context, not a guarantee: sun, ceiling height, open doors, insulation and electronics can shift the load.
The practical step up from the 5,000-BTU sibling
Within the BPP family, the BPP06WTB adds 1,000 BTU/h of SACC over the BPP05WTB and the manual’s estimate rises from 150 to 250 square feet. If a hard 6,000-SACC minimum matters, this model clears it and the BPP05WTB does not; an 8,000-SACC minimum excludes both. Size the room from its real heat conditions rather than assuming the upper room-area claim applies to every layout.
Its manufacturer page lists three cooling speeds, three fan speeds, a 24-hour timer, sleep mode, a remote, automatic louver swing, Cool/Dehumidify/Fan functions and up to 60 pints of dehumidification per day. That last figure and the page’s 52-dBA highest-setting sound claim are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements. The manual’s selectable heat modes apply only to BPP08HWTB and BPP10HWTB, not this BPP06 suffix. App control, inverter operation and a CEER label are not established for the exact model, so a requirement for any of those should rule it out rather than be inferred from the brand name.
Installation limits are more important than “portable”
The exact shared manual describes one exhaust hose for Cool and Dehumidify, and says to remove that assembly in Fan mode. The included window slider’s standard range is 27.5–47.2 inches for vertical or horizontal window applications; although the manual allows cutting the panel shorter, it gives no minimum after modification. Measure the opening and the sash, then leave a short hose route without sharp bends. The cabinet is about 17.32 inches wide and 27.2 inches high in the manufacturer’s rounded dimensions, so confirm the turn into the room as well as the footprint. Depth is unresolved for a tight alcove: BLACK+DECKER’s current product page says 13.2 inches while the exact model-family manual says 14.05.
There is also a source conflict worth taking seriously if people must lift the unit. The exact support page and manual both list about 54.8 pounds; the live brand storefront product record exposes a 12.1-pound weight. I do not use that storefront field as a hard handling fact because it does not reconcile with the two exact support/manual values. Treat net weight as uncertain until you verify the unit label or obtain manufacturer clarification. The product is on casters, but “portable” does not mean easy to lift.
Water, filters and power
Automatic evaporation usually reduces drainage during cooling, but the instructions explicitly warn that high humidity can still fill the tank and stop the unit with an E2 cooling alert. The supplied drain hose can route water downward to a floor drain or tray, and the manual recommends a continuous drain for dehumidifying. There is no documented lift pump, so do not plan on pushing condensate up to a sink. For dry fan-only use, disconnect the exhaust hose as instructed.
The washable filter needs weekly care. The manual calls for a grounded nominal 120-volt supply for this 115-volt/60-Hz listed product and prohibits an adapter or extension cord. Leave at least 12 inches around the cabinet for airflow. Cool and Dehumidify room-temperature operation is listed for 64–95°F. A 24-hour timer is useful for scheduling, but does not solve a poor window seal or an undersized room.
Who should compare another exact model?
Choose this 6,000-SACC tier over the BPP05WTB when the extra capacity is genuinely needed and the one-hose window path works. The exact current U.S. brand-store record was marked unavailable in the checked snapshot; no present seller inventory is asserted. If a known lower cabinet mass is essential, compare the distinct BP06PWA rather than treating BPP06WTB’s conflicted store weight as fact. If you require winter heat, a built-in pump, an inverter or app control, the exact BPP06WTB evidence does not establish that combination. Its fit and draining choices may work for a small room; its unknown CEER, conflicted depth/weight and lack of heating are real limits, not details to fill in from a neighboring model.
