A useful fit for

An exact MAP07S1AWT owner or specific-offer shopper seeking more DOE-rated cooling than the related 5,000-BTU S1, with connected control and a sub-28-inch listed height.

The main tradeoff

Midea marks it no longer available. Its product page repeats the “Product Depth” label for the 11.61-inch second dimension, leaving exact cabinet width unconfirmed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does this model meet a 7,100-BTU DOE minimum?

Yes. Midea’s exact product page and EnergyGuide identify 7,100 BTU; it falls short of a 10,000-BTU minimum.

Can I enforce a narrow cabinet-width limit from the product page?

Not safely. The second measurement is also labeled Product Depth, so width is unknown and does not pass a hard width limit.

Is heat available as well as cooling?

No. The exact MAP07S1AWT page says Heat: No.

Move up in DOE capacity, while checking the cabinet record

Midea identifies the MAP07S1AWT as a 7,100-BTU DOE portable AC, intended for rooms up to 300 square feet. Its exact EnergyGuide lists capacity of 7,100 BTU and CEER 7.0. Those values put it above the 5,000-BTU MAP05S1AWT in the same older smart-portable family. The stated room area is still a manufacturer estimate: direct sun, ceiling height, open passages, insulation and heat-producing equipment can make the real load very different from a simple square-footage threshold. Compare DOE ratings with DOE ratings, rather than comparing a historic ASHRAE headline to a modern SACC number.

Midea's product page says this model is no longer available. It remains useful for identifying an existing appliance or evaluating a seller's explicit MAP07S1AWT listing, but should not be mistaken for a current Midea product. The related 5,000-BTU S1 model is also marked unavailable. The same page lists smart control, Apple Watch and voice-assistant operation, a washable filter, and Heat: No. This is a connected cooling appliance; it is not a heat-pump model.

Exact fit: a known height and depth, uncertain width

The product page gives 11.54 inches for depth and 27.76 inches for height, and lists 50.04 pounds. Its second measurement is labeled “Product Depth” again, even though the value is 11.61 inches. Because the source repeats the dimension label, this review does not silently relabel 11.61 inches as the width. Treat the exact cabinet width as unconfirmed until the product label, a corrected Midea specification or a reliable exact manual identifies it. That matters if an alcove has a strict width ceiling; the finder should not promise this product meets an essential width limit from that mislabeled field.

The model-specific manual names both MAP05S1AWT and MAP07S1AWT, and the North American window kit spans 19.4 to 62.2 inches, with shortening possible. It shows a conventional one-exhaust-hose installation, not a dual-hose setup. Check a used or older-model listing for all sliders, seals, adaptors and screws, measure the window opening, and plan the hose route before moving the cabinet. A portable AC needs clearance for intake and exhaust, even when its listed cabinet footprint appears small.

Connectivity and care are still model-specific

Midea lists SmartHome app control as well as Apple Watch and voice-assistant support on the S1 family pages. Treat those as published compatibility claims, not a promise about present-day software support or Wi-Fi pairing. If remote access is a deciding need, check the exact listing and account requirements before buying old stock. The manual includes a physical remote for applicable configurations, but the fact that remote control is present does not establish the same ComfortSense thermostat location behavior described for the different base MAP05R1AWWT model.

Routine care is conventional but important. The exact S1 manual says to clean its filter every two weeks, drain the bottom tray when the P1 code appears, and empty it before storage. It also describes a fan-drying storage routine. A continuous drain arrangement is provided for dry/dehumidifying mode, but this does not mean you can ignore water warnings. Keep the intake grille free of dust and animal hair; always follow the exact unit's unplugging and cleaning instructions.

Who should consider it—and who should pass

The 7,100-BTU capacity and 7.0 CEER label may interest someone seeking more DOE-rated cooling than a small 5,000-BTU machine, with connected controls and a cabinet listed under 28 inches high. The MAP05S1AWT is lighter capacity but keeps the same height, listed mass and shared manual span; choose between them based on the heat load rather than the “05” versus “07” code alone. MAP05R1AWWT-T remains Midea's current 5,000-BTU option in this documented set, but it does not have smart control on its exact page and has no exact CEER established here.

Pass if heat is required, if a dual-hose system is essential, or if an exact width limit must be confirmed before you can place the cabinet. For those conditions, seek a current model with a complete exact specification set. When considering a seller offer, match the full MAP07S1AWT suffix, confirm the label and manual belong to that unit, check that the used or boxed equipment includes its window parts, and verify the condition of the filters, hose and remote. The Midea listing's former room-area estimate is not a guarantee of the condition or completeness of an older machine.

Review limits

This is a documentation-based review, not a cooling, sound, connected-control or electrical test. It does not claim a current price, personal ownership, measured room results or seller stock. Midea's exact product page and model-named EnergyGuide/manual support the recorded capacity, efficiency, controls and installation facts. The mislabeled second “depth” entry stays unresolved until a primary source clarifies it.
