Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Will an exact 10,000-BTU/h SACC cooling tier meet the need, or is 12,000 essential?
The exact page consistently gives 10,000 SACC. It meets a 10k floor but not a 12k floor; its larger ASHRAE number is a different rating.
Explore this need in the finder →Is cooling without heat acceptable, or is a heat mode essential?
MN4CFS0 is the CFS cooling configuration with Cool, Dehumidifier and Fan only. A heat requirement excludes it; do not borrow the related HFS function.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a 75-pound maximum accommodate the cabinet, while a 70-pound ceiling cannot?
Honeywell lists 74.9 pounds. It is within a 75-pound ceiling but exceeds 70 pounds; wheels assist rolling rather than lifting.
Explore this need in the finder →The MN4CFS0 is Honeywell’s black, cooling-only MN4 configuration: Cool, Dehumidifier and Fan modes in a single-hose portable cabinet. The manufacturer’s exact U.S. page identifies the model, includes a window installation kit and remote, and marks it discontinued and sold out. It belongs in an earlier-model comparison for an existing appliance or a specific older offer; a sold-out page is not current availability. Do not confuse the CFS cooling model with the HFS heat-pump suffixes shown on the shared family manual cover.
A stronger published cooling tier, with limits
Unlike the smaller MN1CFS8 page, the MN4CFS0 exact page consistently states 14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE and 10,000 BTU/h SACC in its headline description and specification table. The DOE/SACC figure is the relevant published rating for a 10,000-BTU/h minimum; the larger ASHRAE value is a different test measure, not an alternate way to meet a higher SACC threshold. The page advertises operation for rooms up to 700 square feet, but that is a marketing estimate rather than a guaranteed room-load calculation. Sun exposure, leaky windows, ceiling height, insulation and equipment all change the result. If a hard room-size guarantee is essential, this page does not provide one.
The model is substantial: Honeywell lists a cabinet 18.1 inches wide, 15.2 deep and 29.4 high, weighing 74.9 pounds. Casters can help with flat-floor movement, but the listed mass matters for stairs, carrying and repeated storage. The manufacturer lists a 58-dBA noise figure; it is not an independent test. The page also identifies a 24-hour timer, three fan speeds, remote, washable dual dust filters and a one-year limited warranty. These are practical convenience features, not evidence of quiet operation or a particular electricity bill.
Single-hose installation and the missing window answer
The exact product page calls the layout single-hose. Its linked 74-page family manual has MN4CFS0 on the cover and lists one 5-inch exhaust hose, extendable from 12 to 47 inches. It prohibits extending the supplied hose or allowing a severe bend. The manual asks for 31.5 inches behind the unit and 20 inches at the top and other sides, a large clearance envelope around an already broad cabinet. The window section lists individual bracket pieces around 19.7 inches and combinations up to 47.2 inches. The exact page separately says 36–52 inches. Since these statements do not establish a dependable installed clear-opening interval, the numeric panel fit remains unknown. Measure the window and inspect the actual kit rather than treating those figures as guaranteed endpoints.
Cooling-only also means no heat pump: the product page states Heat Pump: No, and the CFS model’s operating plan is Cool, Dehumidifier and Fan. The family manual includes heat instructions for HFS variants, but those instructions do not turn this CFS configuration into a heater. If winter heat is essential, select an exact HFS model or another reviewed heat-capable unit and confirm its own drain requirements.
Water handling is mode-specific
Honeywell’s feature copy says auto-evaporation is used for cooling and describes up to 53 pints per day of dehumidification. The specification table instead says 50 pints per day and says a drain tube is not included. I leave the dehumidification-capacity field unconfirmed. The cover-named manual says excess condensate may need manual draining, especially in humid conditions. Continuous gravity drainage is recommended in Dehumidifier mode using a separately obtained hose. The manual says continuous drainage while the unit is actively cooling is not recommended because it can reduce cooling efficiency. It also states that a full tank stops operation until drained. This is not an integrated lift-pump model, and an included drain tube should not be assumed.
For setup, let the unit stand upright for an hour before first use, route only the included exhaust parts as shown and keep air paths unobstructed. Use a grounded outlet without an extension cord. The manual’s filter care schedule is every two weeks; removable washable filters are helpful only if kept clean. These maintenance steps and the unit’s substantial rear clearance are part of the real operating footprint.
How to choose between it and the MN1CFS8
The MN4CFS0 makes more sense when a documented 10,000-SACC tier matters more than portability: its exact page supports that rating, while the MN1CFS8 page conflicts between 5,000 and 8,100 SACC and between 8,000 and 11,000 ASHRAE. The MN4’s tradeoff is a listed 74.9 pounds versus 63.9 pounds for the MN1, with the same basic single-hose, cooling-only style and similarly unresolved clear-opening fit. The MN1 is not a lighter way to satisfy the MN4’s capacity tier because its own value is conflicted. Neither is a current-stock recommendation, and both need an explicit earlier-model search.
Keep the MN4CFS0 on a shortlist only when the exact model code and a particular offer or existing cabinet are relevant. It is a comparatively high-capacity, single-hose cooling appliance with a published 10,000-SACC rating, but not a heat source, not a verified 700-square-foot solution, and not a pump-drain system. If your must-haves include heat, lower weight, a known window span or precise moisture-removal output, the exact evidence does not support this configuration; choose a different reviewed model rather than relying on a family resemblance or an unresolved page claim.
