A useful fit for

Earlier single-hose model when 8,200 BTU/h SACC meets the user’s minimum, the manufacturer’s up-to-450-sq-ft estimate suits the room, the 20–46 in slider/4.75 in minimum height fits and conservative clearances are available. Require explicit earlier opt-in.

The main tradeoff

Compared with QPCA09/10/12 siblings, this exact model provides 8,200 SACC at 68.3 lb and 1150 W input. The larger rating is not a cooling test, efficient-use guarantee, pump drain or heat capability; the model is discontinued and exact app support remains unknown.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does 8,200 BTU/h SACC satisfy your cooling minimum?

Haier’s exact listing gives 8,200 SACC; this model clears the 8,000-BTU/h questionnaire tier but not the next threshold. The area estimate is not a load guarantee.

Will the standard uncut panel fit your measured clear opening?

Haier lists a 20–46-inch standard window-panel range. A 46-inch measured opening is within that range; 47 inches is not proven to fit. The page separately states a 4.75-inch minimum opening height.

Can you accept unconfirmed connected control and handle a full-water alert manually?

The detailed SKU information does not verify app compatibility or a continuous pump/gravity route. The manual describes self-evaporation under usual conditions plus a lower manual drain if the tank-full indicator appears.

Haier QPCA12YZMW review: the strongest QPCA cooling tier, but not a two-hose or heat model

The QPCA12YZMW sits at the top of Haier’s QPCA09/10/12 portable-AC manual group. Its exact U.S. listing identifies 12,000 BTU/h ASHRAE, 8,200 BTU/h SACC and a room estimate up to 450 square feet. The ratings do different jobs: use SACC for a DOE capacity minimum, and treat the larger ASHRAE figure and the room-area suggestion as separate manufacturer claims. Neither establishes the cooling a particular sunny, open-plan or poorly insulated room will receive.

Haier marks this exact model as no longer manufactured. The GE/Haier Owner Center dates its production from March 2020 to September 2022. This review is therefore most useful for identifying an existing appliance or judging a specific older offer; it does not promise a seller has it in stock, that it is in working condition or that the package still contains its original kit. Verify the full SKU on the data plate and inspect included components before purchase.

Capacity is the reason to choose QPCA12

The QPCA12’s 8,200 SACC clears an 8,000-BTU/h minimum but not a 10,000-SACC requirement. QPCA10 is a distinct 6,700-SACC tier, and QPCA09 is 5,600. Haier’s room estimate also steps from 250 to 350 to 450 square feet. That progression makes the model comparison practical, but it should not replace a load estimate: solar exposure, climate, ceiling height, doors to adjoining rooms and heat-producing equipment can materially change room demand.

It remains a single-hose portable AC. The exact listing describes cooling, fan and dehumidifying functions, not heat. If your essential requirement is a true dual-hose arrangement or winter heating, this QPCA12 is incompatible regardless of its higher cooling rating. For a documented higher-efficiency or dual-hose setup, compare exact current-reference models such as Whynter ARC-14S or another reviewed dual-duct option, then check that model’s own window and drainage plan; do not infer those details from QPCA12’s “12,000 BTU” title.

Consider the installation and the weight together

Haier lists a 20–46-inch sliding-window kit with a 4.75-inch minimum height and a five-foot exhaust hose. The shared manual confirms the panel span and warns not to lengthen or extend the hose. That leaves a very practical measurement task: check the clear opening, available kit pieces, sash seal, hose route and cabinet clearance before moving an older unit into place.

The cabinet is 28.5 inches high, 17 inches wide and 14.1 inches deep, matching QPCA10’s listed dimensions. It weighs 68.3 pounds, 8.8 pounds more than QPCA10 and 16.7 more than QPCA09. The casters may aid movement over smooth flooring, but they do not make lifting safe for one person. Haier’s manual calls for two people to move/install the unit. Its placement directions conflict: one section calls for 30 inches around the unit, while a later section says 20 inches. The cautious match uses 30 inches; if your site cannot provide it, seek clarification rather than relying on the smaller allowance.

Power, water and upkeep

The manufacturer lists 1,150 watts, 10.0 cooling amps and 115 volts, with a 120-volt/15-amp plug-capacity field. The manual requires a grounded three-prong outlet and bars extension cords and adapters. It lists 55/57 dBA low/high, an EER of 7.3 and 75 pints per day dehumidification. Those are manufacturer specifications—not independent noise, efficiency or moisture-removal tests—and a CEER value is not established here.

Haier says the self-evaporating system disperses condensate under most room conditions. The manual still provides a lower tank drain and a water-full warning. It shows a drainage opening, but the available model-family instructions do not establish a continuous gravity-hose route or built-in pump for this exact model. Plan for manual emptying if the indicator appears; do not choose QPCA12 if continuous unattended drainage is a hard need. Dry mode is not evidence of a pump. Clean its washable filter at least every two weeks and follow the manual’s R410A service warnings.

In short, QPCA12 makes sense when 8,000 SACC is essential, a 20–46-inch sliding-window opening works, 30-inch conservative clearances are available and you can manage a 68-pound earlier appliance. It is a weaker match when you need an easy one-person move, a lift pump, confirmed connected control, a higher rating or heat. For a 6,000-tier room, QPCA10’s smaller weight and lower listed input may matter more; for a 5,000-tier small room, QPCA09 is physically smaller. The QPCA12’s higher SACC is a real spec advantage, not a verdict independent of the room and its installation.

The exact page view shows a built-in Wi-Fi/SmartHQ promotion, but the family manual says Wi-Fi is available on some models and the older catalog marks QPWA14 rather than QPCA12. App control on this exact SKU remains unconfirmed. Its moisture claims also differ: the exact page says 75 pints/day; the catalog lists 77 in a row labeled pints/hr. Preserve both attributed figures without converting units or implying a lab result.

Source basis: Haier’s exact QPCA12YZMW page, the GE/Haier Owner Center record, and the official 49-5000468 Rev. 1 manual whose cover names QPCA09/QPCA10/QPCA12. The product page was examined through a browser-readable view because its raw HTML route returned a Cloudflare challenge; no raw HTML archive is asserted.
