Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does the verified 8,000-BTU/h SACC meet the selected cooling floor?
It meets an 8,000-BTU/h SACC minimum, but not a 10,000-BTU/h one.
Explore this need in the finder →Will this cabinet meet the stated maximum body height?
The exact cabinet height is 28.35 inches; this test excludes a lower 28-inch ceiling.
Explore this need in the finder →Does this exact model supply heat if heating is essential?
No; the exact model is documented as cooling-only.
Explore this need in the finder →Is app control confirmed for this exact Danby SKU?
No app support is established in its exact product page or manual; a connected-control must-have cannot pass on an unknown.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the exact manual confirm this standard uncut window-panel span?
The manual shows adjustment/cutting but does not publish numeric endpoints, so a 36-inch measured span remains unconfirmed.
Is gravity drainage different from an integrated lift pump here?
The exact manual documents a gravity route only; the included drain hose status is no for the cooling-only E3 version. No pump is documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the exact 7.2 EnergyGuide CEER meet a strict 8.0 threshold?
No. The exact label is 7.2; the 8.0 minimum is a stricter requirement and excludes this model.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the listed cabinet weight fit a 75-pound ceiling?
The manufacturer lists 66.8 pounds; a 75-pound maximum admits this cabinet but not an unknown weight.
Explore this need in the finder →Danby’s white DPA080E3WDB-6 is a single-hose portable air conditioner rated at 8,000 BTU/h SACC and advertised at 13,000 BTU/h ASHRAE. On this exact model, the product page and the detailed specification sheet agree on the 13,000-BTU figure and the manufacturer’s up-to-350-square-foot estimate. That agreement is a useful distinction from the black DPA080E3BDB-6 page, whose own spec sheet conflicts with its headline and room-area claim. Neither room estimate guarantees comfort in a high-load room; use SACC for portable-unit comparisons and account for sun, ceiling height, insulation and open-plan connections.
A conventional cooling-only configuration
The E3WDB provides air conditioning, Dry/dehumidifier and Fan operation, but not heat. It weighs 66.8 pounds and measures 17.13 inches wide, 14.17 inches deep and 28.35 inches high. The same cabinet dimensions are listed for the E3 black model and the E3 heat-pump version, but the heat model weighs more and has a materially different mode set. This white E3WDB is the lightest of the four DPA080 versions discussed here. The B1 model is a little shorter at 27.56 inches, but weighs 73.9 pounds. If you are working around a 28-inch counter, the E3 body is 28.35 inches and does not meet that hard limit, even if the unit’s footprint looks compact in a picture.
Danby identifies this as an 8,000-SACC single-hose unit with a window kit, three-speed fan, electronic LED controls, remote, auto restart, 24-hour timer, washable filter and R32 refrigerant. A single exhaust hose must reach a compatible window opening; its warm exhaust carries indoor air outside, so careful sealing and placement matter. The E3 manual shows sliding- and hung-window configurations and says a slider may be trimmed to fit in certain cases. It does not publish numeric endpoints, however, so a 36-inch opening cannot be treated as confirmed simply because the panel kit is included. Measure the actual window and confirm the included pieces against the exact installation diagram.
Drainage is not an included pump
One practical cost is easy to miss in the accessory list: the E3 manual says the continuous drain hose is included only with models that include heat. The E3WDB is not the heat model, so its package does not promise that hose. The manual still describes a gravity-based continuous drain route for collected water; if you expect to use Dry mode continuously, check for the correct separately available hose and a downhill route to a floor drain or other safe collection point. The shared manual says there is no drain pump. In standard cooling, the internal pan still has to be monitored and emptied as the manual directs if it fills. A “direct drain” marketing bullet should not be interpreted as proof of a pump or automatic continuous drainage during every mode.
The exact spec sheet lists a 53-dBA high and 51-dBA low noise claim, 115 volts, 11 amps and 1,250 watts; those are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements. The product-specific EnergyGuide gives CEER 7.2. This can be compared consistently with other labels, but does not predict your electric bill or offset a poor installation. Danby lists a 24-month parts-and-labor warranty with in-home service. The owner manual calls for a grounded receptacle, prohibits an extension cord and recommends cleaning the washable filter every two weeks. Leave the clearances shown in the manual around the body and do not extend or sharply bend the exhaust hose.
Where the white E3 fits in the family
Choose the E3WDB when 8,000 SACC is enough, a white cabinet suits the room and you want a cooling-only model with the internally consistent 13,000-BTU and 350-square-foot record. The black E3BDB shares the same 8,000 SACC and dimensions but has unresolved 12,500/13,000 and 400/350 source conflicts. The B1 version is slightly lower but heavier, with 12,000 BTU/h ASHRAE, 8,000 SACC and its own 250/350-square-foot conflict. If you need heat, this E3WDB should be filtered out; the exact DPA080HE3WDB-6 adds heat-pump operation, more weight and drain-hose considerations.
Do not pick this model if an exact panel span, app, inverter compressor or pump is non-negotiable: none of those is established as a positive for this SKU. Danby’s product page says 350 square feet, but that remains a starting estimate rather than a warranty for a particular home. The E3WDB earns its comparison on its documented 8,000-SACC cooling tier, lighter cabinet and clearer nominal specification record. For an existing offer, check the full model label ending in E3WDB-6, confirm the accessory bundle and use the official manual before installation.
