Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
What cooling rating does this exact code document?
The exact support record gives 6000 BTU/h SACC; compare SACC to SACC, not to the larger ASHRAE rating.
Explore this need in the finder →Does your measured window fit the manual’s printed range?
The exact manual lists 27.5–47.2 inches. It allows panel cutting below the printed range without specifying a new minimum, so this check uses only those endpoints.
Explore this need in the finder →Can a full tank be drained downhill?
Automatic evaporation does not eliminate all water handling. The manual supplies a gravity drain path; no integrated lift pump is documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Is Heat an essential function?
Only the HWTB suffix documents Heat. The WT suffix does not.
Explore this need in the finder →The BLACK+DECKER BPT06WTB is the 6,000-BTU/h SACC member of its paired manual family with BPT05WTBA. Its support page separately lists a 10,000-BTU/h ASHRAE figure; for matching against a DOE/SACC need, 6,000 is the relevant cooling tier. This is a single-hose, cooling-only portable air conditioner with Dehumidify and Fan functions, not a heat model. Its strongest reason to choose it over the family’s 5,000-SACC BPT05WTBA is the one-step capacity increase, not the larger ASHRAE number or an assumption about room size.
What the exact records support
The model-specific support article lists a remote, double-motor design, three cooling and three fan speeds, automatic louver swing, a 24-hour timer, auto water evaporation, washable filter, casters and R-32 refrigerant. The linked manual names BPT05WTBA and BPT06WTB on its cover and supplies the operating, window, drainage and care instructions. The manual is shared by those two codes, but it does not make the 5k and 6k configurations the same product: the code and cooling capacities remain separate in the fact record.
The exact support page gives 17.32 × 13.2 × 27.2 inches, while the manual lists 17.32 × 14.05 × 27.16 inches. Width and height are close; depth is not. Both support and manual list 54.8 pounds, but the current store body has a conflicting 12.1-pound value. We do not use any of those conflicts to clear a strict weight or depth ceiling. Measure the actual carton or appliance if a doorway, shelf or lift is critical. No exact EnergyGuide CEER is documented, and the sources do not verify app control, inverter technology or an integrated condensate pump.
Fit the standard slider and hose
The family manual’s stated standard window-panel span is 27.5 to 47.2 inches in the specified horizontal or vertical arrangements. It allows shortening the panel below this span but gives no numerical minimum after cutting, so use the printed bounds when a guaranteed fit matters. Verify the opening with a tape measure before carrying the unit near the window, then check the distance between panel outlet and cabinet. This is not a dual-hose model. In cooling mode, hot exhaust travels outdoors through one hose; keep the path short and avoid kinks. The manual says Fan mode operates without the exhaust hose. Dehumidification has its own water and ventilation considerations, and the manufacturer recommends the hose for improved operation in humid conditions.
Casters are convenient on level flooring, but they do not erase the 54.8-pound documented mass or make the appliance safe to lift by its controls. Leave the intake and outlet clear, use the included panel and avoid improvising a longer duct. A window fit that passes width alone can still fail if the sash cannot secure the panel or the hose would be crushed behind furniture.
Drainage and maintenance are part of the choice
Auto evaporation handles much of the water under ordinary cooling conditions, but the manual warns that high humidity can fill the reservoir and stop operation. A gravity drain hose to a lower floor drain or drip tray gives an alternative; no built-in lift pump is established. If your room has no lower drain, be prepared to empty the tank when the warning calls for it rather than assuming “self-evaporating” means no water management. The washable filter is a weekly task during operation. Regular cleaning and keeping air paths open are more dependable than expecting the appliance to compensate for a clogged filter or a blocked corner.
The manual specifies operating conditions and the use of a properly grounded, rated outlet. Avoid an extension cord or adapter. If the room’s receptacle shares heavy loads, check the circuit requirements rather than treating the listed amperage as a suggestion. A correct outlet, workable panel, short exhaust path and a place for occasional drainage are the minimum practical setup.
When the BPT06WTB survives your answers
A 6,000-BTU/h SACC minimum and a 40-inch opening are consistent with the documented rating and slider. Raise the essential minimum to 7,100 SACC and the BPT06WTB should no longer qualify; its 10,000 ASHRAE number does not change that. A required Heat mode removes it because the WT suffix is cooling-only. A gravity-drain plan is supported, whereas a lift-pump essential fails on the available evidence. A 14-inch strict depth limit is not proven because of the support/manual disagreement, and a 60-pound mass cap cannot be confirmed with the conflicting storefront value. Ask for a precise CEER and this product cannot pass on an unknown value.
Compare BPT05WTBA if the lower 5k capacity is adequate and the measured opening is still within that same panel range. Compare BPT08WTB if your room load calls for a higher verified cooling tier, but remember that the BPT08 listing has a separate SACC conflict requiring more caution. The dated BLACK+DECKER storefront snapshot did not mark BPT06WTB available, so the support page is not a promise of inventory. If considering a seller’s offer, confirm the unit’s exact label and its accessories, and do not accept a listing title alone as proof of what is in stock.
