Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does your minimum use DOE SACC rather than the higher ASHRAE value?
BPP10WTB is listed at 10,000 BTU/h DOE and 14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE. It clears a 10k SACC minimum but not a 12k one.
Explore this need in the finder →Must the exact model include heating?
The model-coded support article lists Cool, Dehumidify and Fan, not Heat. The HWTB suffix is a separate configuration.
Explore this need in the finder →What window opening must the panel cover?
The manual’s standard 26.5–48.4-inch range confirms a 48.4-inch opening; an opening above that span is not supported by the stated kit limits.
Explore this need in the finder →Is a gravity drain route enough, or do you require a built-in pump?
The supplied hose supports downward gravity drainage and the manual notes E2 when the tank fills; no integrated lift-pump route is documented.
Explore this need in the finder →BPP10WTB is the cooling-only 10,000-BTU/h SACC option in the BPP10 pair. Its exact support entry also advertises 14,000 BTU under ASHRAE 128, but that larger number is a different rating basis. The WT suffix matters: the HWTB sibling adds heating, while this model does not.
Separate capacity from the model-family headline
The U.S. BLACK+DECKER support article for BPP10WTB lists 14,000 BTU/h ASHRAE 128 and 10,000 BTU/h DOE. Use the 10,000-SACC value when setting an essential cooling floor or comparing it with other current portable models. Its listed modes are Cool, Dehumidify and Fan. The article also names a remote, four cooling speeds, three fan speeds, automatic evaporation, a 24-hour timer, sleep mode, LED controls, adjustable louvers, a washable filter and R-32 refrigerant. That makes it the higher-capacity cooling-only choice over BPP08WTB, not a heater simply because some near-identical BPP cabinets have an HWTB suffix.
It fits a shopper whose room has a real need for the 10k DOE tier, and whose use is mainly cooling with optional fan or humidity reduction. A maker’s room-size estimate is not a guarantee of comfort. Sun exposure, ceiling height, insulation, people, cooking, electronics and how tightly doors and windows close all change the heat load. If an 8,000-SACC unit adequately fits the space, the smaller BPP08WTB may be enough. If heat is essential, the exact alternative is BPP10HWTB, with a documented Heat mode and its own restrictions—not this WT code.
Confirm the window and moving path first
The model-named BPP-family manual includes BPP10WTB and gives the shared sliding kit a standard 26.5–48.4-inch window opening. It allows cutting the section with the hose port for narrower openings but does not publish a minimum after cutting; the port itself must not be cut out. A finder should therefore confirm only the printed span. A 25-inch opening may be possible after modification, but it is not a number the manual substantiates as a guaranteed match. Check whether your window is a supported sliding or double-hung arrangement and whether the panel can close securely around the exhaust outlet.
Cool and Dehumidify use the single exhaust hose; Fan mode is the one mode where the manual directs the user to disconnect it. Keep the run short, avoid sharp bends and leave open clearance around the cabinet’s intakes and outlet. The product support page lists 1,340 W, 12 working amps and 65 start-up amps. It calls for a properly rated grounded receptacle; the older family manual specifies 115 V/60 Hz and no extension cord or adapter. Do not solve an outlet or circuit mismatch with an adapter. The support page’s listed dimensions and 60-pound mass conflict with an earlier official manual that includes BPP10WTB and lists different dimensions and a 65.1-pound weight. The exact legacy page has additional mixed data as well. We do not use cabinet measurements or mass as confirmed clearance facts; check the rating label and delivered unit if doorway or shelf fit is tight.
Automatic evaporation has limits
The manual describes self-evaporation in Cool and Heat, usually postponing drainage until the end of the season unless humidity is high. A full reservoir stops cooling or dehumidification and produces an E2 alert. The supplied drain hose can carry water by gravity to a floor drain or drip tray; it does not document a lift pump. Continuous drainage is recommended for Dehumidify. Decide whether a low drain point is practical if you plan extended humid-weather use, and keep a tray available for intermittent draining. “Self-evaporating” is a convenience feature, not evidence that condensate never needs attention.
The washable intake filter is meant to be cleaned every week of operation. The manual recommends vacuuming dust and rinsing a dirty filter with lukewarm water, then drying before putting it back. The unit is on casters, but BLACK+DECKER still calls for a firm, level surface and free air circulation. It includes a remote, but batteries are not in the box according to the manual. These are ordinary ownership details that can matter more than whether a product card lists another generic mode name.
What it will not solve
Make the questionnaire strict if your actual constraints are strict. BPP10WTB should not appear for a 12,000-SACC minimum; its 14,000 label is ASHRAE, not DOE. It should fall out for a Heat requirement, a dual-hose demand, built-in pump need or numeric CEER minimum. Unknown product dimensions, unknown exact EnergyGuide value and conflicting weight cannot satisfy precise fit or handling caps. Leaving those optional keeps it eligible for someone prioritizing its documented 10k cooling tier, a one-hose window installation and the included remote/timer.
The manufacturer’s BPP10 pages contain mixed model copy. In particular, the exact BPP10HWTB page’s descriptive bullets include an 8,000-SACC/12,000-ASHRAE configuration and its dimensions, room estimate and acoustic language, despite the page heading and exact support entry identifying a 10,000-SACC/14,000-ASHRAE product. Those inconsistent bullets are not evidence for this BPP10WTB. We rely on the model-coded support article for rating and listed features, and retain dimensions/weight as unresolved because the exact shared manual disagrees.
Alternatives by need
For cooling-only operation at a smaller 8,000-SACC level, compare BPP08WTB. If you need heat alongside the same 10,000-SACC cooling tier, read BPP10HWTB and decide whether its 45–81°F room-temperature Heat operating range and occasional drain event fit the intended use. If you need fewer unknowns around physical fit, shop a model with a current exact manual and current-page measurements that agree. BPP10WTB is a candidate only when its rating basis, single-hose installation and routine filter/drain responsibilities line up with the room; it is not the default choice merely because 14,000 appears in its name or marketing copy.
